The carpet is 600 pile which is a standard automotive thickness, some thicker piles can be a driving hazard. The carpet is crush resistant, tough, strong, durable yet tactile and flexible.
A heel pad is provided on the Alfa Romeo 147 driver's mat which is made from the same carpet as the mat and ensures the area that gets the most wear is suitably protected. The back of the mat utilises a granulated rubber backing which prevents slipping.
This backing has small rubber spikes which grip the carpet. Each mat is hand finished with a matched edging.
